From March 27 to 28, 2025, the 2025 China Commercial Vehicle Innovation & Development Summit, hosted by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), grandly opened in Shiyan, Hubei. Centered on the theme “Forging New Pathways, Harnessing New Momentum, and Cultivating New Productive Forces for Commercial Vehicles”, the summit aimed to accelerate the modernization of industrial systems and explore transformative strategies for the sector.

Industry Summit Highlights Dongfeng’s Breakthroughs in Cutting-Edge Technologies

Over two days, discussions focused on smart connectivity, new energy solutions, safety and reliability, policy trends, global expansion, and supply chain innovation. As a core participant, Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle shared its vision for high-quality industry growth. Zhang Xiaofan, General Manager of Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle, delivered a keynote speech at the closed-door summit, emphasizing the company’s technological advancements.

A highlight of the summit was the unveiling of Dongfeng’s Longqing 3.0 High-Efficiency Smart Powertrain, which achieved a groundbreaking 51.08% maximum thermal efficiency in commercial vehicle energy-saving technology. Dr. Li Zhi, Deputy Director of Dongfeng’s R&D Center, received the “2025 China Commercial Vehicle Innovation Technology Achievement” certification from the China Machinery Industry Federation, recognizing Dongfeng’s leadership in powertrain innovation.

The Longqing 3.0 powertrain integrates big data analytics, AI-driven scenario prediction, and intelligent domain control, setting a new industry benchmark for efficiency. This breakthrough underscores Dongfeng’s commitment to low-carbon, high-efficiency solutions and aligns with global trends toward greener commercial transportation.

Spotlight on New Energy and Supply Chain Strategies

Amid rapid shifts toward new energy, autonomous driving, and smart logistics, the summit featured six thematic sessions addressing critical challenges and opportunities. At the “New Energy Commercial Vehicle Sustainability” forum, Zhou Kun, Deputy Director of Dongfeng’s Technology Center, outlined the company’s multi-path strategy:

• Pure electric (70 models) and hydrogen fuel cell (10 models) as core decarbonization pathways.

• Hybrid solutions for niche applications.

• Coverage across 24 scenarios, including long-haul logistics, port operations, construction, and municipal services.

In the “Supply Chain Innovation” session, Liu Bin, Head of Dongfeng’s Supply Chain Management, detailed the company’s digital transformation roadmap, emphasizing agile customer response, production-demand balance, and value chain optimization.

• New energy: Tianlong KL Pure Electric Tractor, Tianlong KL Hydrogen Fuel Cell Tractor.

• Specialized applications: Four-wheel-drive off-road trucks, dual-cab firefighting chassis.

• Efficient powertrains: Longqing 3.0 series (DDi11+DA12, DGi13+DA12), EP electric axles.
