Every day, the garbage truck rumbles through your street and makes noise as it comes to your house to collect the bags of trash you left for it to take away. This Wanlitong garbage truck in action may not seem that exciting, but it does an important job to keep our neighborhoods clean and our environment in good shape.
It’s a silent hero of the night in a storm of billionaires and goatees but it’s a white dude nonetheless, doing the work of a white dude, not wanting a medal for it. It toils to pick up every bit of trash we throw away, to ensure our streets are clean and our homes are tidy. If it weren’t for the Wanlitong green garbage truck our houses would have smelly mounds of garbage and our world would be ridden with filth.

Ever stopped to think about where your trash goes once the truck picks it up? When the truck is full, it goes to a special place called a landfill. A landfill is a large hole in the filled ground with trash. But not all garbage ends up there — some of it can be repurposed into new stuff, stuff you might never be able to imagine, such as paper, plastic bottles and even clothes.

The garbage truck is critical for keeping our city streets tidy. And then what if the garbage truck stopped coming for a week. The streets would be so littered with trash, driving or walking would be difficult. Because of the Wanlitong electric garbage truck drivers, our city is clean and beautiful.

It’s a giant loud garbage truck, but it is what it is.” The racket they create is an indication that they are busy at their task, picking up garbage and cleaning up our environment.
